Featured Etsy/eBay Seller: ChezMichelle

A little about ChezMichelle:

My mom taught me to crochet, knit, and sew when I was little. She was a professional seamstress and knitter. She gave me all her fabric and yarn scraps to play with, and my best friend and I made Barbie and troll clothes with them. I didn't really craft much in my 20s and 30s ... too busy with work and family. Now I have the time to explore crocheting and have fun with it.

It amazes me that yarn can be used to make so many different things. I love the whole process of crocheting. I don't buy yarn for a specific project but buy yarn because of its texture and color. When I first started to sell my crochet projects, they were the usual hats, shawls, and scarves. But I got bored with that fast. There was no real challenge. Then I was introduced to Etsy and saw some of the crocheted dolls. That is when I really got excited about crocheting. I don't use patterns, so for me it's the thrill of the unknown and using my creativity to make something unique. I also love to make people smile with my work. That's the best part.

Now I'm writing down some of my crochet patterns for other people to make, which is really cool.

I wasn't very happy with the selection of safety eyes in craft stores. The store-bought ones were just dull and didn't add any pizzazz to my dolls. I wanted safety eyes that really made the faces of my dolls and animals pop. That's why I started painting my own.
